The Stadacona Center courtyard comprises approximately 22,000 square feet on 3 levels. The courtyard is enclosed by residential buildings on the east and west, and offers views to Stadacona Park to the north and Fort Street to the south. The area has 42% shrub plantings, 30% grass, 22% paved areas and 6% water.
The photos show some of the features of the existing courtyard.

The courtyard slab has little or no slope, and drains are not uniformly distributed, resulting in pooling water and wet soils. Roof downspouts from surrounding suites direct water to the courtyard. Courtyard drainage improvements will be required.
The soil is shallow for the shrubs growing in the courtyard. Plants are typically shallow rooted, and show signs of stress due to waterlogged soil and summer drought.
Wood decks, fences, curbs and other structures are original, and are showing signs of decay. They are due for replacement.
Brick planters and retaining walls are mortared in place. All brickwork and concrete in the courtyard will need to be removed to remediate the roof slab.
The original courtyard had three ornamental pools. They have been abandoned due to leaks and maintenance considerations.
There are 7 pole lamps in the courtyard. New lamp locations will be based on the final courtyard plan.
